Moving to the Philippines with practical Cebu experience
I am Goetz. I have lived in Cebu City since the beginning of 2014. During this time I have learned what a new start in the Philippines really means: everyday life, authorities, money, visas, health insurance and the small decisions that save a lot of stress later.
This page is my entry point for people who are not only planning a vacation in the Philippines, but are seriously preparing their stay, retirement or complete move. I write from the perspective of a German who has lived locally for more than ten years and knows the typical questions from conversations, comments and consultations.
You will not find glossy promises here. The focus is reliable orientation: Which topics should you sort out before leaving? Where are the thinking errors? Which information changes quickly, and when is a personal review more useful than a forum tip? That is exactly what the free handbook, the visa overviews, news, link lists and my consulting are for.
If you are just starting out, begin with the basics: right of stay, budget, medical protection, choice of location and realistic expectations about everyday life and bureaucracy. If your plans are already more concrete, use the specialist pages as a checklist and clarify open points early enough before cancellations, flights or long-term contracts create facts. This keeps the plan verifiable instead of being built only on hope and gut feeling.
